"For twenty years we dreamed of building a house. But not just any house. We had a special home in mind but we just weren't sure how to go about it. So we started to look for someone to help us.
We knew that we wanted a timber frame home. We bought the magazines and we went to the trade shows. We started to contact a few builders and to say we were disappointed with the response would be an understatement. Where was the service and commitment? They must have spent a small fortune to advertise?
Then we came upon a smaller print ad for a company out of Golden B.C., HübertHaus Timber Frames. We fired off an e-mail and to our amazement, we got a quick response. In a matter of days we were on our way to Golden to look at some of the beautiful houses that HübertHaus had designed in the area. By the end of the first day, we knew we had found our timber framer. We also found a house they had designed and timber framed which served as a model for the house we wanted to build.
It wasn't hard to get caught up in the enthusiasm that Kurt Hübert had for his company. What could have been a very stressful undertaking turned into an exciting journey as he guided us through every step from the blueprints, to the engineering changes, to the excitement of cutting the timber frame, and right through to the raising of the timber frame. Not once did he say, No, you can't do that." Instead he made informed suggestions and decisions that made our home better. Everything was completed on time and at the price we were quoted at the start.
I truly believe that it was our good fortune to have our beautiful house designed and timber framed by HübertHaus. Not only do we have a house that we will live in happily for the rest of our lives but we made a lifelong friendship with this young man and his family.
